I joined fitness first around a year ago. I enjoyed my first couple of weeks but that didn't last very long. In an attempt to get the access for the 24hrs QV mall gym, I was denied to enroll in their safety induction 5 times. Not being able to attain what was a promised service, I waited for a year for my contract to end, compelled to use the unmaintained steam/shower facility, gym areas.( Soap dispensers broken, silicon and rubbers out of the shower booths, insufficient cleaning, leaking pipes, flooding in rainy season). As I headed for a cancellation, I was given compensatory personal trainings. I explained my situation to the PT manager and booked an appointment for the next day, assured that a PT will contact me in 24 hrs. The next day, as I wasn't contacted by anyone, I went to gym only to be told that the PT had to go TASMANIA and the clients not being communicated to. I am very dissapointed with the service provided and feel the terms were violated. I'm still trying to figure out what's being done about it.
No air conditioning in gym classes when it's 40+ degrees outside and always leaking roofs into classes when raining. Over crowded classes in the evenings. Really pushy over bearing sales consultants too. Nothing really "platinum" about this gym.
Honestly why I have to pay full platinum membership when the actual gym is not functional at all? Its a rip off!Every time it rains it will rain inside the gym too. If its too hot outside good luck, you are going to train with the heat. Air con doesnt work 90% of the times. Classes complaining that its too hot so they leave the door open to let some air come through but what it does its just even worse. The loud music comes all around and you cant concentrate and train!Dont go around 7pm because therere always some classes on the gym floor too and you need to skip your exercises and wait until they finish. How bad is that?! Better sign up with Anytime or any other gym around the city!
This gym is okay. The range is somewhat limited compared to others but it is in a good location, being right opposite to Flinders St. Station. Parking is hard to find though, if you are driving, you are better off going to eithet the Melbourne Central or Richmond branches. It is a split-level design. Weight areas are a little limited but there is an outdoor section. Weights are often strewn around though. Trading areas are 0500-2300 M-F, 0500-2100 Saturday and 0700-2100 Sunday. The showers are newer than many other FFs...Overall, this gym is okay.
I've trained here 4 days a week since 2016.The staff at reception rarely acknowledge my arrival or departure but of course in that time there have been a number of changes. I don't mind but I know that level of service is important to people. The equipment is adequate (not great) but the layout is bad since they split across two levels. Thats makes 3 free weight areas but only one of the areas has weights over 30kg... The splitting of areas just makes things feel more cramped as the gym is very overcrowded in peak hours. The layout of equipment is just random so its not the most organised, again its due to the area splitting setup. Its in the most convenient location if you take a train from Flinders station so thats the only reason I go there.
