After reading the reviews I almost didn't bother going in. But I gave it a shot and was most happy. I opened my new account with little trouble and was in and out within an hour (between 12 and 1). I reckon that's damn good service.
My partner and I went in to ask about opening up an account and what we would need to do so.We needed to provide a proof of address, and ID.We asked if the proof of address we had was okay and after checking with his manager he told us this was okay to use but that we needed to bring in the original copy NOT a scan - this was understandable so we came in the next day with the original copy.After speaking with the lady at the desk she confirmed that our proof of address was okay to use!We waited to be seen to open our accounts but once she saw our proof of address she then proceeded to tell us that it actually isnt okay, and that we cannot use it.We left shortly after, it was a shame to be messed around and was such a waste of time.We wont be banking with HSBC.
HSBC BANK BRANCH IN MELBOURNE CBDGood range of services and provides ATMs out front. There aren't that many HSBC branches in Australia so its good to have one right in the city centre :)
Worst experience ever with any bank in any country. What takes one day with another bank will cost you a month and a dozen interactions with HSBC, only to find out they are not willing to provide the service. It's a mystery to me how this bank is able to exist with such disregard for its customers, who clearly are just an annoyance to them. All they care are about is their incredibly bureaucratic completely irrelevant procedures. On top of that they showed shocking racist behavior towards my Persian partner who applied for a product as an Australian citizen. We consider suing them for their appalling illegal behavior.
Bank staff were efficient and helpful. The staff member managed the transaction and 2 enquiries in time for me to hurry back across town to work.Far superior customer experience to HSBC Branch in Collins St.
