I was recommended an agent at travel counsellors by a friend. She was amazing and booked our flights for our trip to Europe. She told us some great places to visit in Croatia (Split is so beautiful!) and also helped us with where to fly in and out because we total had it wrong! I loved our trip, we are planning to go back for longer next year.
Terrible!!! Left stranded in remote airport. The travel counsellors had neglected to pay for hire car. As a result I had to pay a further $1074.00 bill. I was promised via telephone immediate reimbursement from Travel Counsellors. I received a part repayment after 3 weeks of begging. Make sure they give you full payment receipts before you travel with them. Don't trust them with your money, your time or your travel!
Had to go through travel counsellors as I didn't have a choice. Let's just say I will do it myself next time! My mother is waiting for travel insurance to pay out lost luggage and we got no help from our counsellor... Not to mention when we were overseas WE had to do everything ourselves... I put my foot down and said we couldn't print any documents and we shouldn't need to be worrying about stuff that an agent should take care of. I don't think she really knew what she was doing and we wished she would have said so. She didn't tell people that internal flights in the United States came with an added baggage fee, but said she let us know in meetings and in person/emails. Nothing was in any emails, and I even asked other people who said they were angry that they hadn't been told too. She also managed to mess up our included luggage and give me included luggage and mum no luggage... And she was travelling for four months internationally... Never owned up to any mistakes or apologised. I'd hate to think of her commission after paying tens of thousands of dollars! I'll never touch a travel counsellor again.
