ACMI is an interactive place for learning the history of Australian film, TV, video games and digital art. Located in Federation Square, entry into ACMI is free of charge and is suitable for both young and old. They frequently have special exhibitions that require a paid fee, but the main museum has enough things to explore for the day. There is also a nice caf inside to rest those tired legs and the place is well facilitated with amenities and friendly staff.
One of the enjoyable place that we visited during our Melbourne visit. The advancement in movie techniques since early 90's was well documented here. Kids as well as others can enjoy playing video games here. The concept of catching your moves by 36 cameras, converting in movie and then getting link of same through mail is fantastic.
The kids did the holiday program here. Apparently they loved it. They got to make a movie with a bloopers reel and they got to make a claymation which was neat. The kids were able to come up with their own stories and see them come to life on the big screen. I'm sure it was an amazing experience. And it comes highly recommended. I was glad to see they actually checked who the child left with. Other holiday programs don't seem to care much.
I like this place a lot. Contemporary art wrapped in classic accentuates and augmented by digital modern touch a bit.Exhibition virtual reality maker, and you play it yourself! It has public restroom as well as cafe an restaurant. You want to sit down after a long walk, they have got it covered.I would like to revisit this place for sure
Nice free exhibition about the media age! And so interactive! You could try old video games or watch documentaries about movies. Film equipment, movie posters and other interesting stuff. A highlight was the camera room where you could make your own time slice jump/move from matrix... Highly recommend it... Until next time!
