A poor experience at a high price. Food quality was good, however the assortment of savoury vs sweet was disproportionate. The real let down was the service.. Slow, poor attention to detail and neglectful. Plus the constant arrival of flys around our high tea... Even a blow fly! What the!IN FACT The Sofitel is in poor general condition... Don't look above at the ceiling as you will quickly go off your high tea!
We had a pre-theatre dinner here to celebrate our anniversary. What a terrific place to have a celebration. The view is sensational, the layout stunning and the staff were outstanding. We were very capably assisted by Daniel who was very friendly, attentive and professional. He had a terrific knowledge of the wine list and also assisted with our food selection. We chose the slow roasted shoulder of lamb and our daughter had the beef brisket - bother were absolutely brilliant!!! When we ordered desert, Daniel presented us with a small plate noting our anniversary in chocolate piping - a very nice touch. We have eaten here before and the standard has remained at the very end of the scale. One of Melbourne's very best restaurants.
Great dinner experience. Staff were friendly with drinks and food recommendations. Great views. Food is good but not great for the price. The duck breast was amazing and flavourful but the steak was so-so compared to other similarly priced places. Good for a special night out but perhaps not another visit.
